On January 31st, 2019, AQAL visited the European Space Agency (ESA) Investment Forum in Darmstadt: an exciting event for people interested in new ideas in space. The day was filled with 14 start-up pitches, panels and time to network with investors, industry experts, and startups from Europe and the US. Start-up ideas ranged from software for space engineers, maritime navigation, improving farming with data from space to autonomous satellites and rocket launch systems.

AQAL had the chance to visit the ESA Mission Control Center where launches such as Galileo and Rosetta were supervised. The last 50 years more than 70 satellites belonging to ESA and its partners have been successfully flown from Darmstadt.

The event was organized by ESA in cooperation with High-Tech Gründerfonds Management (HTGF) and Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR). The ESA Technology Transfer and Business Incubation Office (ESA BIC) supports innovative companies in developing new products. The ESA BICs are incubating more than 600 startups in 60 cities in Europe with financial, business and technical support.
